Encounter the light
Oct 2021
Withered leaves, UV ink print on paper
Approx. 99 cm x 170 cm (20 panels; each panel: 21 x 29.7cm)
“The principal person in a picture is light.” – Édouard Manet (1832-1883)
Light is the start of everything. It connects, percepts and defines the world we live in. This approach is the same as that in a canvas, a space where light is vital to emerge an image. The artist continues her botanical practice by capturing veins of withered leaves to re-question the existence of light and drawing - without light, there is no nature, no human, not even art. This site-specific piece can only be seen under the UV of sunlight, calling us to honor the conventional yet most neglected element of life. May us find that light.
